When you call PSLIS, you won’t have to search on your own, vet interpreters yourself, or wonder if the right person will show up. We’ll handle it. Interpreting ASL requires more than technical skill — it requires cultural fluency, adaptability, and a commitment to never stop learning. Trust between an interpreter and the communities they serve is earned over time, and we take that responsibility seriously. Our interpreters are dedicated practitioners who take their ongoing development seriously, because the Deaf community deserves interpreters who understand that this work is a lifelong practice, not a credential you earn once and set aside.
Interpreter quality starts with how interpreters are treated. We pay competitive, transparent rates because we value our interpreters and recognize…… Better pay means better interpreters. Better interpreters means better outcomes for the people we serve.
Inconsistency is one of the biggest failures in this industry. We build relationships — not just rosters — so the people and organizations who rely on us know what to expect every time.

ASL interpreting isn’t confined to one setting — and neither are we. Preferred Sign Language Interpreter Services provides qualified interpreters for:

Preferred Sign Language Interpreter Services was founded by an interpreter with over twenty years of experience and a Survivor Activist currently completing ASL interpreting training — two people who believe that when interpreters are supported well, everyone benefits. The Deaf community gets better access. Interpreters do their best work. And the agency earns a reputation worth having.
For over a decade, our co-founder led a survivor-serving organization where accessible events, written materials, and facilitation were. She curated and shared resources that other organizations adopted, raising access expectations across the communities she served. Preferred Interpreting exists because access is a critical part of how we build a world where everyone belongs and has what they need.
We’re building something collaborative from the ground up. That means competitive and transparent pay, and working relationships built on mutual respect. We want to hear from you — about the work, about what’s working, about what could be better. Your voice shapes how we operate.
Whether you’re newly certified or have spent years in the field — if you’re serious about this work, we’d love to connect.
