Preferred Interpreting is looking for interpreters who care about this work — and who want to be part of an agency that values what they bring to it.

Whether you’ve been interpreting for twenty years or just earned your first certification, if you’re committed to providing a high level of language access and looking for a working relationship built on respect and transparency — we want to hear from you.

What Working With Us Looks Like

Preferred Interpreting operates on a straightforward set of principles: competitive and transparent pay, clear communication, and a working relationship built on mutual respect.

You’ll know what you’re being paid and why. We don’t leave interpreters in the dark, we don’t treat you like a number on a roster, and we don’t disappear between assignments. We’re building something where interpreter voices matter — in how we operate, how we handle assignments, and how we grow.

We also believe in supporting interpreters at every stage of their career. For newer interpreters, that means access to mentorship and support as you build your practice. For experienced interpreters, that means a seat at the table in shaping what this agency becomes.

What We Believe

We believe interpreters do their best work when they’re treated as the professionals they are.

That means going into every assignment with the information you need — the setting, the context, who you’ll be working with, and a real person to call if something comes up on site. It means being matched to work that fits your credential level, not just your availability. It means your feedback matters when something doesn’t go right, and that we’ll listen when you tell us something isn’t working.

We also believe in the long game. Interpreter burnout is real, and it’s often the result of feeling like a resource rather than a person. We’re not interested in building that kind of agency. We’d rather have fewer interpreters who feel genuinely supported than a large roster of people who dread seeing our name in their inbox.

We can’t control everything that happens on an assignment. But we can control how we prepare you, how we communicate with you, and how we show up when things get complicated. That part we take seriously.
